I’m Kristen Palana. And I am literally this size.

I have spent over twenty years teaching digital media, art, and communication at universities on four continents. I have held tenure. I have given it up to follow where the work was most needed. I have helped diplomats, refugees, UNFPA country offices, the World Food Programme, and over 90,000 students in 191 countries figure out how to do more meaningful work in the world.
I am currently a professor at The American University of Rome, a working artist, and the founder of the Lightmakers Collective. I live in Rome with my family, and I make art every morning before I open my email.
My actual superpower is this: I can look at something complicated and tangled and find the one thread that makes it all make sense. I do this in classrooms, in studios, in consulting rooms with international organizations, and now in short personal videos for people who send me their work.
